Trial Run up Blodgett Canyon, Montana

What do you do on a trail that you’ve hiked dozens of times? You trail run it, of course. Following the course of Blodgett Creek, the trail running is both great and, well, challenging at alternating stretches. Large rocks and uneven trail surface means that you best not gawk at the towering buttresses of granite that loom overhead.

Hiking to Bear Creek Falls during a Montana Winter

Not every spectacular hike requires hours or days of travel or many miles of hoofing it up a mountain. In fact, some of our favorite treks are just outside our front door in the Bitterroot Mountains. On this day, we hiked along Bear Creek to the eponymously named chasm that tumbles and rumbles a shade more than a mile and a half from the trailhead.
