First “Real” Hike of 2019! Bass Creek

Hiking,Hiking 2019
Finally, finally…we are out and hiking again with the whole crew (Vida, Jeff, and myself), and for the first “real” hike of 2019, we put on the YakTrax and hiked to the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness boundary.

We started the day at the Larry Creek trailhead as the deeply rutted ice-packed road to the Bass Creek trailhead looked a bit too gnarly, or maybe I was being a bit of a weenie. The hike itself was a thoroughly enjoyable amble atop soft snow, which would occasionally give way. Jeff post-holed at least 20 times, so he is the champ.

The last bonus of the day was stumbling across the first wildflower of 2019, a Sagebrush buttercup.
