Trapper Peak: Tackling the Highest Bitterroot Summit!

An exhilarating journey to the summit of Trapper Peak, the majestic pinnacle of the Bitterroot Mountains in Montana, standing proud at 10,157 feet. Known as the most iconic mountain in the Bitterroots, Trapper Peak offers more than just its height; it's an adventure that promises breathtaking views and a satisfying challenge to hikers and mountain enthusiasts alike.

Starting from the Baker Lake trailhead, situated along the scenic West Fork of the Bitterroot River, our ascent begins with a steep and rocky climb to Baker Point. Though demanding, the trail eases as we approach Baker Lake, setting the stage for the remarkable landscapes that await.

Our journey doesn't stop at the lake. A left turn and a creek crossing later, we tackle a steep use trail, navigating through open forests and across talus slopes, all the way to the saddle between Trapper Peak's true summit and its eastern counterpart. With every step, the wilderness of Darby, Montana, unveils its beauty, culminating in an awe-inspiring view from the top.
